The Museum to Date

How We Got Here

On 1 March 1984 the Saskatchewan Militia District Headquarters Historical Collection was created under the command of GJR Bellavance, CD, the District Commander with Maj C Keith Inches as Curator. On 7 May 1992 the Collection was designated an accredited Department of National Defence museum with our current title, Saskatchewan Military Museum.

Starting from one small shared office in the Regina Armouries, the Museum's facilities grew through several small, temporary accommodations until its official opening on 6 June 1994 by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan in our present facility in Room 112 of the Regina Armouries.
